sad part is that they really do seem to be doing the best they can considering the way some of the roads still look. i thought by now people would be making a bigger deal out of having the roads/trees/debris cleared so that LIPA has an easier time getting everything fixed.

my dad said there are still a lot of trees down in our neighborhood and roads are impassible. not sure what the people who live on those roads are doing, but LIPA cant come to inspect the area until it's clear...and chances are lots of lines need replacingmrs. heavymetal from jeepforum

There are seriously no words to describe the absolute chaos down there, what you see in pictures cannot even grasp the totality of it all...thousands of flooded cars left abandoned...gas sucked dry out of every single one. zero power that wont be restored until after thanksgiving in the hardest hit areas Every curb is just lined with peoples ruined belongings, furniture, appliances etc. We were escorted to our drop of points and just drove down streets of beach sand. Even the smell in the air was awful.
We may be doing another run next weekend if anyone would be interested in donating anything. We drop boxes of hand sanitizer and throw away medical gloves to the police and Jackets, blankets, cold weather clothing, baby formula and baby food, wipes, diapers, mops and cleaning supplies, buckets, garbage bags, non perishable food items. We filled three trucks today with about $5000 worth of the stuff listed and it barely scratched the surface!

most people i know who were still without power seem to have gotten it back over the weekend too so hopefully they keep making moves. sounds like LIPA really is in for it after all of this though, some of the feedback people have heard from the out of state guys about the way LIPA has run the operation and is so disorganized is crazy. the people from out of state seem to be doing most of the work.
