i agree. i wheel my jeep and beat it but i also take care of it if i wheel it and there is mud on it i wash it off i also wax my jeep. its my DD i need it to get to and from work so i have to take care of it. this is by far the longest it has gone with out getting dirty from the weather or me wheeling it.
i have a friend that is annoying as hell he wheels his jeep (or goes down a dirty road with puddles) and he sends me pics saying "this is what a jeep is suppose to look like" and states he hasnt washed it in 5 months. bu he gives me shit for having my jeep clean and not always going with him at 930 at night just to hit a dirt road

I have definitely said its a just a cheap jeep I don't care. Jeeps don't get much cheaper than mine.
I was home for spring break driving it around in my woods bounced off a few trees and I got it covered in mud. And I mean swamp mud, that thick nasty shit that goes on in chocolate frosting like blobs. It really bothered me seeing it like that. I washed it the next day, wheeled it again and washed it a second time that same day. Before I two toned mine the paint was so shitty that I kept it dirty to help hide it. It still is pine striped but that doesn't bother me all that much.
Now I actually enjoy seeing it clean. It will never be waxed though. My interior is just herc so I don't care if that's dirty but I refuse to have trash floating around in there.

my jeep is purpose built. Granted, my jeep is actually a gmc jimmy, and yes people have thought i was in a terrible accident due to the dents and what not... but that is why i built it. Personaly i think my rig looks better now all beat to hell, body parts falling off and to be honest, get a tetanus shot before you ride with me

oh ok cool. we were shooting potato's at it last time we were at the park and we couldnt tell where we were hitting it until we kinda found where the frozen juice outline was.

I keep mine pretty clean and respectable. I don't leave mud on it after I go wheeling and I don't leave it covered in salt. The interior is showing its age, but generally its in decent shape.

I don't ever chime in when people say that kind of shit. My Jeep may ride like crap, but I'm not about to do any of this hill billy wiring job shit like with aftermarket lights and leaving mud all over the interior and exterior like some kind of a redneck badge of courage.

i know my fender flares rnt the gratest things ever built but i did take a lil time cleaning them up after i saw how really bad they were when i first made them. to be honest i think flares of any kind look like shit i hate the fact that i have them on my jeep but i got pulled over what do i do. i took my time painting the OD and i think it came out really good. i always use the proper parts and makesure everything mechanical is at 100%. i dont really mind body damage and scratches thats expected.

i guss bottom line is when i say "fuck it its a jeep" i mean its a jeep that is built to take this kind of abuse and it wasent supposed to look all nice. so if it aint perfect its ok.

If I didn't care for my XJ I wouldn't bring it to the shop after every wheeling trip to grease the front end and fix whatever was broken on it. I wash it, both the body and underside and regrease all ujoints.

I want my vehicle to last, no matter how many dents I get and windshields I crack.

back when my jeep was nice and shiny and my DD i would keep it clean and wax it once in awhile. I was upset about my first body damage but after that it went downhill because i realized dents/scratches are going to happen. If my jeep needs repair i try to put that first before buying another upgrade.

I clean my jeep when i can, and try to make sure it stays in one piece. So far I think I'm doing a pretty decent job at making a DD/trail rig that's clean and functional. I can't stand it when somebody tells me to "just take a sawzall to it" and I fucking HATE my "Sweet hood mod" even though it's minor, I also hate the rattle-can touch-ups I have done to prevent rust from spreading.

what makes a wheeling rig (especially a DD wheeling rig) so incompatible with being nice? or at least clean in some way

i think theres something to be said for a really good looking AND functioning jeep..nothing drives me more nuts than when people do bootyfab cut jobs or bumpers or whatever thatre just such an eyesore i cant believe they would put it on a vehicle. and the justification is "whatever it was cheap, and its a jeep". or people who use shitty ass parts just because they can.

and then theres the morons who actually think making a jeep clean is dumb
"why would you wash it ever, its a jeep!"

                                in closing,
yeah its a jeep and i also dont look like a dumb halfass redneck. bonus points. kthnxbai.

                                anyone?
Pretty much what I have been saying for the last 3 years and everyone just laughs. But thats OK. The one I have now I just let the rain clean it, and I just try not to dent it, but if its gonna get dented or scratched ok then I'll deal with it.
