check the voltage at the back of the alt then at the battery make sure you are not getting a voltage drop

Battery and alternator are both fine. Could it be a bad cable to the starter?

Its not like it was cranking and wouldn't start, it just wouldn't do anything. No dead battery clicks, no dash lights, no nothing. Its like it just raped the battery of all its power.

If it's not doing anything try to jump the NSS in the engine compartment and see if that does anything there are diagrams online that show you what pins to jump

So I cleaned off the starter connections and so for I've had no problems. But it hasn't sat overnight yet so I'm not sure if I've ruled it out. Ill check on those jumping diagrams.

Alright well, it did it again. Drained all power from the battery. Its barely cranking even with a jump. Idk wtfs wrong with this thing but its driving me nuts.

idk, it was running/ starting fine all day. i put like 30 miles on the thing driving it around and it was fine turning on and off. also i noticed that when i turn my lights on, the radio illumination turns off, and when i turn them off, the radio illumination goes on. i took the radio out and its stock wiring and harness, nobodies messed with it (also a stock radio), its weird. while searching on cherokeeforum i came across threads involving my situation. theres people that had the same problem and it ended up being something on the starter like a starter relay or something. they call it a "dead key" cuz thats what i get when i turn the key is nothing at all. it wont crank unless i draw power from another vehicle. even then it will barely crank, whether in neutral or park. even getting a jump from my wifes pacifica with like 745 cca it wont crank enough to even fire up. im just really conpuzzled right now. i feel like im dealing with a bad computer issue like on my 93. all i know is this sucks....

hmmmmm i did have a problem like diss, if you had another battery that you know is good put that in there so your gettin full charge an you know it couldnt be that, after you get the new battery in go to start it but have someone lay under the jeep with a small hammer or something like that. there is a solenoid on the starter an bang on that (not the starter itself) as you are startering it. my was stickin an if kept actin all fuckin gay an it ended up being this. if it does start while you are hitting it you know its the starter thats poop. u can just get a new one an there not hard to put in.

the battery tested good today. along with the alternator (just for shits and giggles) ive whacked the starter a couple times and it didnt seem to do anything. its dark out and im tired and shit. before i shower and call it a night im gonna go out one more time and try hitting the solenoid and see what happens. im just resorting to last ditch efforts now before i put this one in the pond on purpose haha.

That is really weird, does the headlight radio thing happen with the engine running? If the engine is running the battery and alternator should be able to power both the headlights and radio with no problem at all, sounds like you have something else drawing a huge amount of power which would also explain the battery draining after sitting for that short of a time.
