  • my 4.0 sounds like a diesel :(

    i changed the oil in my jeep and now it sounds like a loud ass diesel. it always sounded like that a little bit but now its really loud. anybody got any ideas? i'm guessing the valves. do i need a new head?

        Mine sounds like a diesel. Mine is coming from the bottom end. I need bearings.

            drop in some marvel magic mystery oil and use 15w-40 oil

              yea i heard about that marvel stuff. thinking about trying it. or seafoaming it and hoping for a miracle.


              i put 5w30 and a quart of lucas in it. its pretty bad tho. same stuff that was in it before

                5-30 is really light. its getting warmer, throw in 15-40 diesel oil (rotella, shell, castrol..) in and itll work 10000000x better

                    thats REALLY heavy if youre using dino oil.. mobil 1 full syn 20w50 is great stuff if you can find it

                      Jesus christ how many times I have to tell people, run what the factory says too! 20 50 is too thick and 5 30 is too thin. Do what adam said, diesel oil has additives newer oils don't have. Chevron Delo oil is good too.

                        According to my owners manual 5w30, 10w30, 10w40, 20w40, and 20w50 are recommended.

                          LIES! Every engine is built with clearances, some for thinner oil, some for thicker oil.
