  • Fluid in Extention Housing

Going to be swapping the blown 242 tcase in my 98 my question is I've noticed before when dropping some Tcases at work there is fluid in the extention housing... Is this fluid out of the t case or trans?

Some transmissions have extension housings to mate the transfer case up, Borg Warner T18 to a NP205 for example. It's important to know where the seal(s) are located to better identify which fluid it is. On a 242, it's transfercase fluid since the extension housing is on the back of the tcase.
