are there notches in the piston? if so, its a screw in type and you need a special tool to do it. or a pair of channel locks. just if you use channel locks be really feakin careful not to rip the boot or scratch the piston

97 TJ that I think is pretty neat.

for dual piston i use this
same idea as a c-clamp but it gives equal force on each piston so they dont get cocked sideways in the bore. Definitely arent screw type pistons on the front.sounds like the pistons are either popped out of the bore or they are cocked sideways

i used one of those on a WJ today in class.....worked like a charm. your calipers may be seized up or something will.

was not leaking, it was gear lube, seal was shot. thats replaced.

which opens a whole new can of worms wondering why the fuck my brakes wouldnt bleed properly

in other news, i was able to save one caliper, bought 1 new one, and the calipers dont fit any better then before and i still have the same spacing problem with the bracket as before which is what caused all this in the first place cuz of a bolt sheering.

                so, dead end as always.

you remember the issue right? with fitment/spacing of the bracket

vaguely. I just looked at my fathers and the bracket sits flush with the knuckle on his so I'm not sure. I'm writing this out so I don't forget lol. The problem is that the rotor is set too close towards the knuckle causing the caliper bracket to be moved in as well. So we need to get the rotor to sit farther out so the caliper bracket can mount to the knuckle nice and flush. A WJ hug from the tip of the stud to the WMS is 3.5" and an XJ is 3.25. I know you put in the JKS spacer but maybe that wasn't enough.

the caliper bracket needs to move outwards so that the rotor fits inside of it where it sits..movin the rotor outwards is gonna increase the clearance issue as trhe bracket if u try and botl it down is dragging against the front face of the rotor..thats why we had washers in between the knuckle and the bracket...my brain is fried tryin to think about it without lookin at it
