my mindset on this subject matter is as follows:
if my 1 ton tie rod end gets bent beyond use, or "pulls out", i lose a jam nut,or whatever happens to it (not that it isnt stronger than stock because fuk yah it is) i have to go track down the replacement parts (or carry $140 in rod ends and hardware). can't just swap in a stock setup in 20 minutes because my reamed knuckles wont allow it.
but if i keep stock steering and keep 10 lbs of stock steering (easily available and usually free) in the back of my jeep i can fix it within 20 minutes and be on my merry way once again.

stock steerings fucking amaze me, they are a fucking enigma.
i have seen them bend seemingly on almost nothing, maybe trying to get a tire on a medium sized rock or something small. Always something that seems too insignificant to actually bend it.
Then other times i have seen people drive them directly into rocks, kinda like how maru bend his one ton. And they take the fucking hit, unscathed.
There have been times there should be no stock steering left like it should have exploded into another dimension, but sure enough its there. Then a week later, you bend that shit tire stacking or something stupid. No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.
