PSC sells a kit for this set-up. Also if i get a good pump/orbital, and a cooler i won't get a lag in one direction

my problem is right now i can't trust where my steering box is bolted to the frame to withstand the forces of 40" tires

        WTF is a redneck ram?

Hydro steer doesn't automatically mean you can't drive on the street.

Research how to set up your own hydro, and fuck the kit. A kit from PSC is only costing you more money.

So then reinforce that piece of frame. Going to full hydro isn't going to magically fix that you have a weak point in your frame.

regardless of the frame hydro is necessary to handle such large tires, and i would rather get a kit with a warranty and parts that are made specifically to work with each other. Also everywhere i research tells me to buy a kit and not piece it together because everyone says they get problems in the long run.

My point was that if you feel like you have a weak point near your steering box, going to full hydro won't magically fix that weak point. Obviously going to full hydro over hydro assist wouldn't put as much stress on that point, but wheeling 40's will eventually take it's toll.

As far as the kit, I see what your saying so I guess to each his own. Just from what I have heard, the kits tend to much more expensive than putting together your own hydro. But I can see where the warranty would be nice.

Hydro assist. Google it its sick. And I'm pretty sure you need a mechanical linkage on your steering to make it street-able

with a danfoss orbital valve there is no mechanical linkage but even when the vehicle isn't running and the pump isn't turning the orbital will still turn the tires. for legality i can always disassemble the steering box and leave the draglink so it looks like its there

this thread had good info on this entire subject

From what I have heard, there is no reason why full hydro can't be legal (i doubt most cops would know the difference). I believe there are even some factory semi trucks that use full hydro from the factory.

After seeing what happened to Doug Bigalow at the rock race, there is no way I want to run full hydro on the street

Either way, air leak = no turns. fluid leak = no turns. Hose burst = no turns. Do what you want just stay the hell away from me on the road

idk.... full hydro isnt that bad.... sure there is no mechanical linkage but it doesnt mean its not safe.... do you trust airplanes, jets, commercial vehicles.....

my point is dont be scared cuz of the full hydro name... if your goin down the road and pump fails... you can still turn.

if its done right than you should have no worries.

yeah, i'm not really worried about the hoses/pump/cylinder failing i'm pretty trusting is hydraulics, my really worry is would it rip off/loosed my diff cover
