the solenoid creates a spark lighting the gas fumes on fire and causing you to crash on 95 and possibly die thus ending these questions. i see a win win situation here

It is the Evap Purge Solenoid. If it is ticking then that is a good thing. If it were bad it would throw a Check Engine Light.
