i just have a small 125 plus mig... has yet to fail me...
and yes i have seen them at home depot aswell
welded teh whole frame on my racecar and have welded many of cages with it..
i can weld 1/4 in beveled and clean.. but gotta let it cool down at times...
i like it cuz i can plug it in anywhere, and its small enough to bring places..
i also have a 220 tig/stick setup, but have used a whole one time

1/4 is probably the biggest i'll go...... its probably only gonna get used for making armor, maybe bumpers sometime, and too make me money and beer welding for other people. when i do the welding on my 44 i'm just gonna tack it and go over to my school shop and use the stick.

forgot to mention they also have a miller plasma cutter.......... maybe the funnest machine ever invented.
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

Im running an older Millermatic 200 (underrated, putting out over 250 amps). Its great with the spot weld timer and burn-back timer. With the owners manual in front of me, it runs 200 amps at 60% duty cycle. It is far more machine that I need but its nice to know I have it. Im not an experienced welder, I am just still learning to use it correctly (figures, after I built most of my cage). I just think to buy more of a welder than you will need. I bought mine used and brought it to Owens shop who repair welders and had them go through it just incase (thanks for the great service by the way!). I think there are a lot of deals to be had out there, you just need to search for 'em.

I am also looking into getting a welder in the near future. Just one question, Say I had like 700$ to spend. Is it better to go with TIG or MIG, and what is the difference, besides cleaner welds on the TIG??

I have used a MIG before, but never a TIG. Is one stronger, or any better for making armor, bumpers, etc?
