its not only on startup, thats just when the most common time is, right after i start driving. but it happens other times too.Originally posted by loudobbs View PostWith my limited engine knowledge and decent amount of common sense... if its only happening on startup, and im assuming you mean cold startup, then it sounds like a problem with ignition that is otherwise unnoticeable when the cylinders are hot. Maybe check timing?
I just think issues in the throttle body and injectors would be a constant issue, not only when just started.
the other thing is that it almost seems patterned, kindof like: dead dead dead jolt dead dead dead jolt. usually like that, thats why i think it might be my coil going out because thats the only thing left that would be patterned and wouldnt be constant. i could be wrong. i dont know, this shit is so irritating. also seems like its slightly underpowered even when its driving "normal"2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited

plus thatd make it a constant problem, not erratic and random
im thinking it might be my IAC, its begun to occasionally give me a very shitty idle while im in park or neutral(kindof sounds like a motorcycle), but also dips low and revs high while in drive or neutral. im not sure how that would effect it while im on the throttle considering its an IDLE control motor, but i guess if its fluctuating and letting more or less air in, then the mixture would be off and cause an improper firing charge...
anyone care to validate that theory?Last edited by Lycaon; 09-11-2009, 09:41 PM.2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited

how, on the vehicle and run seafoam through it, or take it off and soak it in seafoam... or another cleaning product? engine degreaser? never had to clean one before, ive always just replaced them, but its 60 bucks i dont have right now.Originally posted by crosbike View Postshitty idle is most likely iac. clean it.2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited

im thinking my running issue may in fact be the fuel injectors based on this:
FUEL INJECTOR MECHANICAL MALFUNCTIONS
The PCM cannot determine if a fuel injector is clogged, the needle is sticking or if the wrong injector is installed. However, these could result in a rich or lean condition causing the PCM to store a diagnostic trouble code for either misfire, an oxygen sensor, or the fuel system.
my computer is constantly throwing o2 sensor codes even though the sensors are only a year old and i all the damaged wiring and have good voltage readings on the dtc scanner. the vehicle acts like a misfire/rich-lean condition until i stomp the throttle which would change the pulse width allowing the pintle to possibly "unstick"(?)

I have this issue right now. A little while ago I pulled a code on the upstream O2 sensor. I've had this issue for a long while and it seems no one has been able to figure it out yet, on any forum I've been on. And as a broke college kid, I can't just throw money at it.
It probably won't be the IAC, but that can only help you solve the problem. I replaced my IAC and TPS so far, and neither did anything. A seamfoaming through the TB seemed to help for a little, but I don't think it was it.
I think we have the same problem because my computer throws the O2 codes too. If that could mean injectors are bad, then I would go with it.-Matt

yeah. im thinking injectors, ignition coil, or maybe even an ecm problem. id put new injectors in but the problem is i dont have over 400 bucks to spend on 6 new injectors. im soon to take my coil out and test it cause maybe the resistance is out, but wouldnt that cause a constant problem? this problem went away for about a week then came back, and now its getting really bad. to the point where it wont accelerate at all sometimes and then when i try to jam the throttle itll just tach out and hit the rev limiter until i let off the throttle completely and try to throttle up again. im about ready to bring it in for service instead of trying to do this shit myself, im just getting fed up with this bullshitOriginally posted by XJcrazy00 View PostI think we have the same problem because my computer throws the O2 codes too. was it only at certain times, and in like a pattern? or was it all the time, cause mine usually only does it around when i first start driving and stays in a pattern of like 3 seconds of idle then a burst while about half way into the throttleOriginally posted by clean4drxj View Postcome to think of it i had a similar problem with my 99 s10 with a 2.2, turned out to be the colid had a crack in it on the backside and everytime it got moisture in it it was buckin and running like shit.... just something to think about2005 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited
