  • Transfer Case doesn't fucking fit

ok so I got my tcase, correct splines, out of a 94 XJ, for my 98 auto Tranny.... put on my SYE, and today attempted to install it. splines up just fine, and slides on good.... but it doesn't slide on all the way. It appears that the tcase input does not allow the tranny output shaft to slide on as far as it needs to go..... there is a little ridge on the end of the splines on the tcase causing this..... it looks like my only options are to either cut the output shaft down to size or buy the right input for the tcase, can anyone tell me wtf the deal is with this thing? And no I didn't try putting the t case on before putting the SYE on..... I really didn't foresee this happening

You said you have another T-case just swap the SYE over it will take less time than cutting the splines.

New spline inputs are over $100.

ok, sooooooo, I have another t case, but it's a 242, I need to cut about an inch off that output shaft........ what should I cut it with? Get the shaft spinning and use a cut off wheel? Sketchy?

i'd hold a steady hand, and mark shaft with a sharpie/ piece of tape etc that goes all the way around the shaft. take a cut off wheel and cut as close to the sharpie as you dare, then take a flap disc and work the rest away till the no meetal is left up to the mark you made . maybe there's an easier way.
