  • Early bronco dana 44 front in an xj?

Does anyone know if a dana 44 from an early bronco will fit in an xj?
Alex is too lazy to ask

He has some concerns with the driveshaft hitting the oil pan and or exhaust. Any help is cool. Alex thanks you.

        how early of a bronco?

depends on the suspension height he is running

        low pinion vs high pinion

        which axle tubes were narrowed
        etc

        people have done it though

EB's were made 66-77. 76/77 is the desirable year for the EB. They are ALL low pinion, but 76/77 is what you want. The majority of the aftermarket is for 76/77. Its what I have up front. The axle is pretty fucking centered under der compared to a stock XJ D30. Not sure why. Mine is pretty much spot on stock XJ width. I've got stock length aftermarket yukon axle shafts in mine... so I'm pretty sure that means mine was never narrowed.

            never even saw this thread.

toying with the idea of an early bronco front 44 (66-77) LP. they are roughly 60" wms-wms similar to an xj. can easily put wheel adaptors on the back and run 5x5.5 wheels

here is one in an xj and the only potential problem is that the diff is nearly centered

any pics of yours doug? i'm running 4.5" of lift (maybe less) and don't want exhaust/oil pan issues
