  • The time has come.....

to order gears. I'm running a 30/44 combo, 33's until they die, and this jeep is my daily driver, it has to take me to school in norwalk 7 months out of the year, so i don't want to top out at 55 on the highway.

    I need opinion's though.... 4.56 or 4.88?????

anyone run 4.88's on 33's?? is it that much of a difference from 4.56's??
No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.

If its a daily I would go with the 4.56's. They seem ok on mine with the same size tire. The pinion also get awful same when you go up to the 4.88's in the D30.

      will likely be negligible.

Hardly ever hear anyone complain about going too low. I'd go w/ 4.88s.

i plan on going to a 35" radial with my 5.38's as a street tire

i can hit 97 mph with my 36's, and its governed there.

justin has 5.13's and 31's and he can do 60 no sweat.

if you get a little extra gear, you will be glad you did

if you get just enough gear, you will be happy with it, but have nothing to compare it to

              i would go deep

i can hit 75 comfortably still but it gets a little up there in the RPM's. i would go with the 4.88's if i were you. cant hurt to have too much gear.

4.88 it is, all i needed was one person to tell me to do 4.88's and i was gonna. hahaha

i know that goin 4.56 would end up like my 33's.......... loving them and being totally satisfied but still wishing alittle that i bought 35's.

4.88 it is probably gonna do the actual install late august, i'm either gonna have banditt do it or attempt it myself, anyone with experience thats down to lend a hand is welcome and well appreciated

i get the same milage with big tarz and deep gearing as i did stock.

gotta compensate not for just the tire size but all the extra rolling mass.

more gearing= engine doesn't work as hard

i stopped paying attention to what my jeeps were getting for mpg a long time ago.

on a side note my silverado is getting 17.5 average, and my buddies xj with 31's and 3.73's is only getting 16
