I'm going to pick up some steel for making box rockers, and was thinking of grabbig 1/8" instead of 3/16" both for cost and ease of welding purposes, and to be honest I don't plan on flopping the jeep on these, you guys think this is ok. And if any one has any pictures of how they mounted their 2x6 flat (Sam) I'd appreciate just an idea of where I should cut cut.

The 3/16" I put on surely isn't going to buckle or give - its the last thing that will be remaining when the jeep goes to scrap or burns to the ground.
If you cut the entire rocker out - the tubing will sit flat against the pinch seam. We welded 1/8" angle to the pinch seem for more support. My uncle did the welding and he said it was easier to weld under the doors where I had left a little lip from the original rocker.

When i did mine i uesd 2x4 tubing 3/16 thick. Not that heavy duty but does the trick. With the doors closed i used a scribe to make a line, right under the doors. Then underneith about 2-3 inches from the rockers edge i made another line. Cut both using a sawzaw and cut both ends. Made caps for the tubing using 2" flat stock. Used a floor jack to hold the pieces up in place. Then let the sparks fly... I had pics on the tech post i think they got deleted........Good luckDONT GET MAD GET ROWDY !!!

This is the last one I did
2x4 3/16 hangs about 1/2 lower than the door.

Sam yours came out nice, definitely provide more protection.
This is just another option.
It's my brothers XJ he usually runs without the doors. The XJ is really low 2" spacers on 30" tires just trying to get as much ground clearance as possible.
It is the same XJ with all the other mods. He will be competing RCrocs if you want to check it out.
Definitely better than what it was

i like much of your work and use some of your ideas from time to time. im a fan of keeping things low as well.
eventually i would like to trim the bottom of my doors a bit and run some higher rocker panels and kinda boatside em. but i have way too much on my plate right now

Sorry to hog the thread
Sam how did your T-Case clocking work out?
The holes don't have to be exact the inner round part centers it and torque works off the clamping force between the two not the shear of the bolts or you would see witness marks left from the threads. The first time I did on my brothers XJ I just did it all by eye.
I wonder what the rule is on boat siding for RCrocs. WERock your allowed to cut the rocker up the the height of the floor.
I always try to keep things light and low but it doesn't always work out, hence why I keep rolling. I still have more lowering on my CJ, I actually lowered the body 1-2" from last year. I started off with ease of building now I'm tweaking lowering what I can. I'm installing suck down winches right now. Hopefully that will make up for my short ass wheel base. I went short wheel base for turning but it sucks for climbing. I don't know if the trade off was worth it.
You made the bonus line climb look easy.
You had your trany line blow off last comp right? Did you switch the push in style over to thread on?
See ya in a week
Good luck.

i just eyed it up and i fucked up one of the holes, but a little work with a file fixed that, fits nice, just need to pound up my floor more.
the thing with the bead slipping off i blame on my beadlocks coming in the monday after the comp as opposed to 3 weeks before when they should have came. popped a bead, but tried to make another gate on it.
i made the next gate, but thats when my tranny line popped out.
i till have my hackjob tranny line in there. hopefully ill find time to get something legit in there.
