    FUCK YES. YOU WERE RIGHT SARDO. SO FUCKING HAPPY RIGHT NOW.

    Pullled the rear tires off, dropped the jeep on jackstands and put the jeep in drive.

    Oil began misting out of the pinion immediately. That metal thing that sits around the pinion is the cause of the noise. Will get pictures of it in a minute.

    My only concern at this point is how to tell whether or not the pinion bearing is shot. Any ideas?

    I know i need a new pinion seal, and a way to stop that shield from spinning, but i don't know how to tell if the pinion bearing is shot.

    Lets assume the pinion bearing is shot. I've heard this is a job left for people with the knowledge on how to set up gears, etc etc.

    Anyone know how to do this? Cost to do this? Time it would take? Etc etc? Willing to pay just kind of need it done soon as this is my DD. (This is assuming the bearing is gone.)

          Nope. Not so easy. Tack welded the pinion seal in place. Same noise is still there at low speeds when going forward.

          Noise is gone in reverse.

          Took it around the block and came home. Diff fluid fucking everywhere, all sorts of weird noises, etc.

          I'm just looking for a new rear axle at this point. I can't deal with this shit.

          Even the fucking front coil bucket on the D30 snapped causing the coil to sit on the axle tube. Jeep leans 1" to the passenger side. Need to fix that shit too.

                We can't all be winners.

                Should of just payed the price to have my old axles re-geared. Would of probably been cheaper at this point.

                Shot him a PM last night for a price to re-gear my 8.25. I don't even want to deal with that 44 anymore. It's a fucking trainwreck.

                Maybe i can salvage the aussie locker in it and make like $100 back from my loss.

                  Why is the axle puking diff fluid? Are your seals bad? is the axle vented?

                  Someone said the yoke was loose at one point? how long was it loose for? You could smoke the bearings, seals, gears in no time without any preload... Id say you got hosed if you paid good money for it.

                  I know you may be discouraged at this point, but replacing some pinion bearings and a seals is pretty cheap and easy to do.

                  Heres what i would do.
                  -pull the axle out
                  -pull the cover, drain
                  -throw some gear mesh paint on the gears and see if the gears are smoked at this point.
                  -if they are still okay, pull the carrier (do you really need a case spreader?)
                  -pull the pinion
                  -pull the bearings off, and replace
                  -take that stupid sheild off the yoke
                  -throw the pinion back in and be sure the pinion preload is set correctly
                  -pop a new seal in
                  -loctite the pinion nut and crank the shit out of it
                  -put it all back together
                  -drink a beer

                    I'm going to pull the cover tonight and actually look at it but I know this thing is fucking toasted.

                    Drove 15 miles. Pulled out my IR heat gun. Front diff cover was 80 degrees. Rear diff cover was approaching 140 degrees. Terrible noises. Currently in Danbury and it sounds FUCKING TERRIBLE.

                    I'm done with this setup. New plan.

                    - Get rid of D44 and D30. Throw them in the fucking garbage. (Goodfight $1,200.)
                    - Remove 6.5" coils
                    - Remove shackle relocation brackets and rustys .75" shackles.

                    Then I'm going to;

                    - Install my old 4.5" Coils
                    - Buy another pitman arm
                    - Install my old D30 & C 8.25.
                    - Demount my 35s & remount my 32s.
                    - Go back to stock steering

                    Save up for;

                    - ARB Air Lockers
                    - 4.88 Gears ( + cost to install.)

                    Then;

                    - Remount 35s.
                    - Figure out if I want to swap the WJ brakes over.
                    - Figure out why the fuck my steering is so loose.
                    - Figure out how to setup WJ steering correctly instead of hacking it together.
                    - Figure out why the fuck any logical person would actually do all of this shit.
                    - Buy a geo.
