FUCK YES. YOU WERE RIGHT SARDO. SO FUCKING HAPPY RIGHT NOW.
Pullled the rear tires off, dropped the jeep on jackstands and put the jeep in drive.
Oil began misting out of the pinion immediately. That metal thing that sits around the pinion is the cause of the noise. Will get pictures of it in a minute.
My only concern at this point is how to tell whether or not the pinion bearing is shot. Any ideas?
I know i need a new pinion seal, and a way to stop that shield from spinning, but i don't know how to tell if the pinion bearing is shot.
Lets assume the pinion bearing is shot. I've heard this is a job left for people with the knowledge on how to set up gears, etc etc.
Anyone know how to do this? Cost to do this? Time it would take? Etc etc? Willing to pay just kind of need it done soon as this is my DD. (This is assuming the bearing is gone.)
