  • rustys vs warn

Its time to get a new tcase skid and im looking at warn and rustys which is better? I like warns because it looks like it hangs down less but rustys has a angled edge and mounts to the unibody sidealso

Also on a side not how are rustys engine and trannys skids it looks like it mounts to the upper control arm mounts which is good because I still have them with my clayton long arms guess its good to be lazy sometimes

Get the Clayton belly skid and make a rear support for it

My plan is to make and engine/trans skid that goes from the crossmember forward and mounts with supports to the motor mounts.

Edit: I just realized the Clayton kit is exactly what I plan to build. I would definitely go with that over attaching to your control arm mounts. I also never liked how it had to jog over the front driveshaft, seems weak to me.

I have the warn on my wrangler, I can't complain too much because it did its job, but it seem cheap. I believe it's 1/8th thick, I've bent it several times, hammered it flat and welded in 1/4 strips and bent it again. I heard good things about skid row, theirs attached to the motor mounts I think and made from 3/16's.
