  • adding strength to rear frame rails

so i dont have any pics yet....but last weekend i backed into a tree pretty hard....hard enough to separate the floorpan and shift it about an inch upwards...not 100% sure how yet cause i only glanced at it in the dark. but it appears that i WILL need a porta power to straighten it out again and i may have possibly damaged the rear sub frame connector thingy (not sure what you wanna call it) anyways, need some suggestions on how to strengthen it up a bit back there. my bumper kicked ass and didnt get damaged however the frame/subframe took quite a hit from that. will post pictures tomorrow sometime for a clearer visual of it all.

Someone makes a rear frame stiffener. Hd offroad I think. Weld those in and tie the bumper into them.

thank you ill prolly end up attempting to buy some metal and build one just for the hell of it...gotta learn to weld someday right? lol i more or less am just looking for some design ideas...im sure theres lots of guys and companies that make them and starting from scratch is stupid because the wheel has already been invented

For the time it takes to make them its not even worth it. They arent too expensive.
Your going to have to pull that thought, thats kinda bad

well, its partially rotted thru so thats why it broke. i thought the rear subframe bent but apparently not...looks to me like that bumper is mounted on there in a manner which allows the frame to take the hit though...didnt tweak the shackle mount or anything else. just folded up there a bit. it looks bad but not un driveable really. plus its been a smidge messed up since i bought it so it makes an excuse to fix it. i think if i pull it out as far as i can and put the plating on as you mentioned it should be fine. its not my DD so it doesnt have to drive 100% straight

Do you wheel with no hood on? I don't understand why your engine is caked in dirt.

HDoffroad does make them.. I haven them, however I would also plate the inside of the rail since you will most likely need to drop the tank to fix that.

If I can manage to get it kinda straight. Ill prolly just go El cheapo and weld on some 1/8" angle....fuck it not gonna spend a shitload on this one cause its not "that Jeep" make it wheelable and run it.

I would say the angle is fine, but how do you plan to straighten that out? I did something similar but the side of the 'rail' just dimpled slightly, 1/4" off from the other side so I just plated over it. That's a lot more serious
