So i went to throw together some one ton steering on kristys jeep and ran into a little issue. I wanted to run the normal under the knuckle setup becasue it would be an easy swap.
She ordered the y link kit from ruffstuff.
I was un aware that they reamed the long y link tie rod end in house and they ream it so you have to run over the knuckle I have used this style tie rod end before and i was planning to ream it (backwards) myself. No where on the website does it say the tie rod end would be reamed out.
so now im stuck either calling ruffstuff for a non reamed tie rod end, ORRRR suck it up and run OTK.
Now to run over the knuckle it looks like i have to cut some fat off the 30 (swaybar links, maybe the coil perches?) Im not worried about cuttin shit.
The track bar however is what im curious about. First off, it looks like the mount on the axle might hit the steering, and second how fucked up will the angle of the dangle be?
i calculated the angles and lengths for OTK, UTK, and the trackbar.
Track bar: 32.5" @ 12.88°
OTK Draglink: 33.09" @ 8.25°
UTK Draglink: 33.65" @ 13.31°
So basicly if i went with OTK i would have to raise the trackbar 2.5" to be "perfect"....... is that 4° diffrence really going to make that big of a difference? anyone run OTK with stock trackbar mounting location?
Its not like i cant make the bracket. i just dont feel like wasting time if im not going to notice it.
