  • i really hate brake lines.

EDIT: and in all my anger and frustration i fucking posted this in the wrong section, can someone move it plz sorry

so i went out yesterday with my brother and got some brake line etc for his jeep that were working on, now ive only really installed new pieces that were direct fitting to fitting replacements. ALL the brake lines on his jeep have been removed as not a single one was really worth patching. so we gutted it and got all the measurements.

ive been doing it exactly like this guy shows and it just doesnt wanna work.

one of two things happens, it either splits the brakeline or it doesnt give me a proper double flare. this could get quite agrevating unless i figure this out quick because we now must do ALL the lines before we can really get it out of the garage.

to the point of raging and saying this piece of shit has too much work involved/needs too much and scrapping the whole damn thing.
any tips would be helpful and much appreciated

single flares are illegal you must double flare.

I don't know what your problem is without actually seeing it I've flare thousands of lines really not that hard but sometimes can be a pain.

I just use a normal tubing cutter never need to use a file or anything on the end.

I bought the hydraulic flaring tool I really like it, just easier on the hands i've used the hand one plenty of times. Both do the same thing.

Make sure you use the mandrel and stick out the correct distance and make sure it stays centered.
And don't over crimp the double part.

You have a double flare tool not a bubble flare too Correct?

This is the most common problem I see. People think you have to crank it down in the flaring tool, and you really dont. When tightened it will seat its self better if its not super compressed anyway.
Also if too much tube is sticking out you will crack it as your expanding the metal too far,
        Dan.
