need to know where the battery gauge is reading from, i had a loss in voltage due to a shitty alternator(making it stall out at redlights) so i replaced it and the battery to boot, now if i measure across the battery with a multimeter i get a reading of ~10.6v cranking, ~12.2v idle with key on, and around ~14.5v engine running . if you ask me thats PERFECT. however my gauge still reads almost to the lower extreme...now it doesnt appear have a power loss but im beginning to wonder if i have a power draw somewhere in the wiring harness

When you rev the engine does the gauge move from the position its in when at idle?

Well yes it does. It also responds to other power draws, like turning on my blower for the a/c and my electric fan.

I would say the gauge is good then. Do you have a clip on amp meter by chance?

Unfortunately no. But I might be able to get one

Check the draw on it. If you have access to another XJ, compare it.

If not, pull fuses and check for a major change with the ignition on but engine off
