so i suppose a 96 cherokee classic isnt supposed to have a 231 t-case in it? thats what ive been reading anyway. but heres the deal, thought i was hearing some brake noise coming from the drums in the back of my jeep. turns out it wasnt that at all. looks to me as though the rear drive shaft is binding under hard braking or wheelin...im almost positive theres no SYE on the yeep and its got a 4.5" RE AAL kit...thats bad right

and i doubt theres a tcase drop kit and ill post pics why i think that in a min

its most certainly an NP231 but the guy blew up the 242 that was in it so he swapped out for a 231. adjusting the linkage involves loosening the trunion bolt and shimming the shift lever while its in 4lo then adjusting as necessary and re-tightening correct?
well i fixed it, just needed to be nudged a little, no more falling outta 4wd
and also pulled out the speed sensor to find that the moron before me didnt orient the sensor properly and the hold down bracket wasnt getting a proper bite on it, so seems solid now! thanks for the help gentlemen
