wtf is wrong with my XJ?

Feels normal until you hit a hill at highway speed (69 mph). I know an XJ with 37” tires & 4.56 gearing is going to struggle on steep grades, but it just dies. Foot to the floor… 3000rpms going 15-25 mph up hills on the Merritt Parkway. Drove from Hamden to Trumbull to Stamford yesterday & to work today keeping to I-95 or back roads with no problems.
Anyone ever have a similar issue before? When my fuel pump died a few years ago it felt different than this.

      It was weird...

the best way I can describe it would be to compare it to shifting into to a high gear on at too low of a speed, only the RPM's were normal.

Someone help this guy fix it or it's going to take 10 hours to get PA...Gleacher and I do not want to follow dougie on the backroads.

at highway speed, when it bogs, if you stomp on it, does your jeep downshift ?
if you put in in 1 or 2 then accelerate fast, does it fall on its face at all ? in neutral and revving ? could be fuel issue , check for dirty air filter , could be tranmission related too

I was thinking fuel related but it could be the trans, I guess start with a fuel filter and go from there.

I tried putting it into 3 or 1/2 while it was doing it & nothing changed... still could barely make it up the hill & had to pull over.
At first I thought fuel issue, but the fuel pump, filter, & sending unit are only 3 or 4 years old.
                    Just changed the air filter.
Hoping it is a sensor like the TPS or CPS. Going to order a TPS today.
