  • Help....

This has been happening ever since I lifted it, and has been getting worse. That chattering noise happens when decelerating with transmission out of gear and a bit in 4th and 5th and it always chatters in 5th. Sounds like it is coming for around the drivers side of the bell housing area. I have just had the front axle rebuilt so that is out. I just changed the tranny fluid about 300 miles ago.It seems to be speed related, when I do 75 it is REALLY bad, but I tried it in 4lo today and it did it in 5th doing 25. Just don't want to drop the tranny until I know what it is as when driving off road there are zero issues at the moment and I don't want to fix highway performance and chance off road ability. You can hear it best like 5 seconds before the end to the end. Any ideas?

Ujoint or driveshaft centering ball is my guess.

I was having some noises too, sounded like birds chirping and a weird vibe. centering ball was bone dry.

this sounds good, knock on wood this will be the issue so I can just drop a new front driveshaft in there and fix it...When I rebuilt this one I did notice that the driveshaft centering ball was packed with dirt, so I cleaned it out, I had no idea it was dirty lube and had to be re-lubed. Will post an update when I drop the front driveshaft and see if it fixes the noise.

nope, though the centering ball seemed effed, I dropped the driveshaft out and drove it a bit and the noise is still 100% there....any suggestions?
