  • wheel bearings

so my dana 30 hubs don't last that long, i put two new ones in around june and they are wasted already. i'm using the good autozone ones. yes they are under warranty, but i don't feeli like ripping my jeep apart every 5 months. does anycompany make a better wheel bearing that is a little more heavy duty?

pretty sure the good quality ones from autism zone are timkens. i would just get them replaced for free. these things arent designed to handle 33"+ tires through mud and over rocks.

            Autozone's are timken.

            http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...=17405_3214_0_

I use the NTP ones from advance and have never had an issue with them. They're made by federal mogul, everyone claims that timken's are better quality, but i've used national and the timken ones in my D44. And to me they are pretty much the same, last the same amount of time.

Ohh well, you could have just gotten a bad one.

you could convert your 30 to hubs though, waayyyy stronger than unit bearings.

solid axle/Spyntec makes a dookin kit:

the only shitty part is that it changes your bolt pattern to 5x5.5

              $1450?

I will keep my unit bearings.

knuckles, hubs, 30 spl outers, IMO if you're running 37's on a dana 30 its worth it

I personally think its a little rediculous too, but if you got the money and feel like spending it on a dana 30 then, its deff quite the upgrade.

i think that kit is only worth it if you're running a tj 44 so you have the center section, and even then its still prob not worth it

I've seen people use Dana 30 outters from a CJ which has lockouts, just a cheaper route for manual hubs.

Dizzy, do you torque the nut to spec? If the nut on the end of the shaft isn't tight enough, it's not holding the bearing together and allows some play which can wear it out faster.

This is the cheapest place I found for hub bearings
                              http://www.hubbearing.com/

And little axles don't last long with big tires and hard wheeling.
if you really want stronger Unit bearings then you need a D60.
