So I fixed my belt squeal but my jeep has developed a really bad sputtering and popping. Its bogging out really bad and there seems to be alot of air in the fuel lines. I couldn't find any holes or anything but its running like total shit. It barely stays running and every time I give it gas it just bogs out and sputters and pops its like the timing is off or something. Idk what's up with it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

There's a ton of air coming out of the check valve on the fuel rail when I press it in. I went wheeling and the jeep got a little wet but nothing more than normal, there's no water in the engine or fuel or anything. Its a 96 xj auto. When I push in the thing on the fuel rail, fuel and air comes out, like alot more pressure than there should be. Also when I do this, It starts and runs ok, but then after a few minutes it goes to shit and when I give it gas after that it just completely bogs out.Originally posted by 1cleantj View Posthow can you tell theres air in the fuel line ? what did you change recently ? hit any wires/connectors ? what year vehicle ?Watch your backhoe, I'm the John Deere man.

Is that like the vacuum bottle that's in the bumper or something else? Now that you said that it actually seems like a vacuum problem. When I hit the gas its like sucking too much air or something like that. Its definately a fuel/air problem.Last edited by Trailer Ray; 11-28-2010, 08:35 PM.Watch your backhoe, I'm the John Deere man.

no, on the drivers side fender, there is a little shale type thing with two connectors, i found out it was my problem by disconnecting the two, and using a thick ass wire to complete the circuit between them.God made the world in seven days, on the 7th day, he made the Le Car

How bad was your xj running? Mine wont even run without me purging the check valve on the fuel rail. Then once it starts, its ok for a few and then if I give it gas it wont rev at all it starts bogging and sputtering and popping really bad. Was your problem similar to this? Like its completely not driveable.Last edited by Trailer Ray; 11-28-2010, 08:47 PM.Watch your backhoe, I'm the John Deere man.

Yeah my fuel pump is pushing plenty of fuel up into the rail. It turns on as it should with every turn of the key. I'm going to have to see if my 96 has the resistor or not. What gauge wire would you say you used to jump it?Originally posted by LittleD View Postyep, mine would start, then constantly loose fuel pressure, ended up buying a fuel pump that wasn't needed.Watch your backhoe, I'm the John Deere man.
