These barpins DO NOT have flares ends. Though they are 5/8" in diameter, I can push these in by hand. I don't have to grind the edges down, or hammer then in, or even use a vice. Just a little oil and these can be pushed right it, no sleeves or anything else necessary.ZOMG, not exactly the same as stock bar pins, but have the advantages you listed, except they are no longer pretty.Originally posted by Buffalo Phil View PostI know, it's crazy right! They look exactly like Bar Pins! Who'da THUNK!

the washer sits on a lip in there and once its installed in the shock you put a anutter washer on the other end and a small c-clip in there to prevent dat shit from walking.
sorry if i'm coming across as a dick, but i just immediately saw the similarities and thought this thread was appropriate to bring it up.

this is the biggest problem i've had with mine. one of my upper mount bolts snapped while on road and instead of the other bolt holding the bp up there it just slid out. these seem like the solution i've been looking for until i decide to get bpe'sOriginally posted by Buffalo Phil View PostThese barpins DO NOT have flares ends.

I was quite inebriated when I posted that, so I apologize for fucking up your thread.Originally posted by Buffalo Phil View PostClearly you are missing something insanly Obvious, so let me point it out for you.
These barpins DO NOT have flares ends. Though they are 5/8" in diameter, I can push these in by hand. I don't have to grind the edges down, or hammer then in, or even use a vice. Just a little oil and these can be pushed right it, no sleeves or anything else necessary. They are for a stock mounting location for the rear, and I'm not cutting my jeep apart and building a shock hoop and just 'putting a bolt through it' because that to me is more work then spending an hour to make these bar pins. I have the resources and the knowledge to make these rather then chop up my jeep and make unnecessary modifications.
But while we are on the subject, I see the advantages that you mentioned, but I probably wouldn't have done it that way myself. I just personally don't like that mounting method, and I think you could have come up with something easier to work with without chopping the shit out of your floor. There are a lot of things we all do to our vehicles that are "unnecessary", but we do them anyways. It's all a process to see what works and what doesn't, I was just trying to give some insight. IIRC Dillon made a set of BPE's that I thought was simple and effective for his rear shocks, that just used a normal sleeve and bolt. But, that's just my opinion. If it works, it works. Can't argue with that.Last edited by Even; 02-21-2010, 05:58 PM.

I was referring to him saying that he didn't want to chop the shit out of his jeep to make shock hoops. I thought he could have come up with another mounting method without having to deal with that style mounting method.Originally posted by Cletus View Postwe did not end up putting a hole in the floor i showed him you can put a wrench in there to hold it. the replacinators worked exceptionally well

Got the Bilsteins in today and my Replacinators are Awesome.
Oh and Define 'Easier'. These shocks went in like it was their job to be in my jeep.Last edited by Buffalo Phil; 02-21-2010, 06:01 PM.sigpic

Personally, I think throwing a bolt through the shock bushing, and tightening the nut it is easier than having to deal with fishing a bolt through the top of the sheet metal, then hold it with a wrench while you locate the shock and tighten the nut with your other hand. Twice.Originally posted by Buffalo Phil View PostOh and Define 'Easier'. These shocks went in like it was their job to be in my jeep.
Like I said, if it works for you thats all that matters. I didn't mean to cause a huge discussion over something as meaningless as how you mount your shocks.
