Me, I've always been able to use the highlift if I get stuck. That's a tool every person should have on them. Obviously I've gotten pulls from people and such but have never needed a winch.

I also don't attack mud pits, especially by myself.

i might be getting a winch from my grandparents for graduation and i like to go in mud. Up in mass you need a winch well at least i will for some areas on the trails. im working on the other stuff for making my rig better im saving up for lockers and some other stuff.

make friends with people that have winches...

scratch that... I think making friends would be harder for you than just getting a winch

there have been situations where i would have NOT wanted a strap on me

but needed a slow pull from a certain angle

A hi lift wouldn't pull you up a rock face where up is the only way to go.

I have been in many situations where i would not be able to be recovered if i didnt have my own winch. You can get in some tough spots where you need pulls from a place a vehicle can not get to. I agree with sam as well seeing as i recovered him where a strap would of fucked his day up most certainly.
