but you dont know how to make it. Trust me its no fun if you have to get everyone to help you with projects like this every time you want to fab something. getting a welder and learning how to do some basic stuff first THEN tackling this project with a little help is the better route.

its made custom just as much as a job u have someone else do for u is...

i dunno i agree with dana (AGAIN!!!!!!!!!)...any time i need stuff welded (i cant weld) its a HUGE freakin hassle to get it done, especially in 1 shot, and i hate askin people to always help me when i need it as far as that goes, so i try and keep my custom welded projects to a minimum as far as that goes...sometimes u just have to go with whats most logical/convenient/attainable.

i know, debbie downer. oh well.

Like I said, I can weld. I get alot of shit because my front axle welds didnt hold, but thats really only because I tried welding cast to cast with a mig. and to be honest. I didnt like the idea to begin with, but i did it because i was out of money and out of options and couldnt afford a truss at that time. all my other welds, although not the prettiest, held fine, and the lower ripping off wasnt the welds breaking, but rather the metal sheering off because i had reused the factory bracketry (again a stupid idea)

That front end is fucking heavy, and with the weight of the whole jeep on it/shitty sub-par brackets that didnt give much contact patches, its no wonder they failed. in fact, I even stated that i didnt like the idea of using what i had on the front end when we were putting it all together.

I did weld Justin's lower control arm back on and he made it home from RC. I wouldnt have done this if i didnt feel confident that i could, as it was a saftey issue.

Like I said, I dont do the prettiest welds ever, but if we can find a welder, I'll gladly do it if you feel thats what you want. Ill do a few practice welds too, and you can be the judge.

If however, Mine are not satisfactory, I still dont see why we cant do this, tack everything together, and get someone more experienced to do the final burns. Welding isnt nearly as time consuming as the measuring/cutting/prepwork involved.

I would like very much to help you with this project, as i want to do it myself to my TJ, but am on the fence when it comes to cutting into the rockers of my rig, as I paid a pretty penny for my jeep and feel guilty about cutting into it when they are still in perfectly fine condition. It sounds shitty that I wanna try it on someone elses jeep before my own, but you seem all in on this idea, so i'd like to help, and i feel as though it would be a good learning experience for me and hopefully what i need to decide to go forward with a similar project on my rig when the time comes.

Your front axle ripping out. You said the only reason the welds failed was because you welded cast to cast with a mig?

I cut the upper CA mount (part of the pumpkin) off of a D30 and welded it to the pumpkin of a D60 as a "temporary" setup till i got a truss. lasted 26 hours.

i think differential housings are cast iron right? I donno, cast is cast to me, all fucking potmetal. might be steel. Either way, i didnt have the right welder/experience to be trying to weld that. I just figured id get away with having a 3-link if it broke. whoops.

Haha thats what i was thinking (most axle tubes are steel, the housings are iron). All i know is for using an arc welder you have to use a high nickel content rod for welding cast iron. I'm assuming it's about the same thing for mig welders.

Welding cast iron is much different than welding cast steel (not that im any welding expert )

This is quite the elaborate undertaking if you don't know how to weld.

The fact of the matter is everytime I read a post of his its asking for help. You clearly lack the skill to accomplish most of what you are trying to do so you should either:

A: go buy some tools and get some hands on exp.

B: go get a big dollar job that would pad your wallet and have someone do what you clearly can't.
