It was a group buy on NAXJA. We got enough order for a shipping container back in october. Shit finally came in this past weekend and should go out asap. The hardest part now is saving for my AJS bumper and waiting to paint everything cause i dont have an indoor place to do it and i dont have $$ to get it professionally done.

Parts should be shipping out from cali this or next week. So hopefully i can get everything before end of feb.

I am gonna order a few cans of paint by the vin from a site called www.jeepsareus.com, They sell surplus jeep parts from dealers at pretty decent prices. They also sell mopar paint in spray cans for about the same cost as having it mixed. I think that 4 cans should do it, with a good high quality primer.

The fendrs are already primmed, can i just scuff that and shoot it or should i prime it myself? I am gonna do all my trimming and drilling for te bushwackers first so i can paint the exposed metal too.

Ordering paint this weekend, I am getting high quality SEM brand primer and paint prep so everything has a nice clean surface to paint. We have a really good paint shop at a local parts store that sells to all the body shops so i trust their judgement on what to use. They are also experienced painters too.

I will start by cleaning the parts with the cleaner/prep then soap and water. Then a few lights coats of primmer and then sand it with some 320 grit and re wash with soap and water.

Then start the many very light coats of paint, when done wet sand and re paint if necessary, then clear, then wet sand and buff.

I wanna take my time and make this look good even though its very small exposed areas and prolly gonna get scratched up. I want to do my hood as well next summer to get rid of the oxidizing on it.

My question is, how many cans of actual body color paint should i buy, im thinking 4 but maybe more so i have extras for future work/repairs/whatever. Its $15 a can from mopar matched via the vin number vs $25 for made to order mixed paint in a spray can.

I also found out that i can have a local shop make me some rear 1/4 guards pretty cheap. I am gonna make a stencil out of card board and have the 1/4 guard go from the door jamb, to just past the tail lights, have it rolled and drilled to bolt to the body behind my bushwacker flares. Should be under $100 for both sides. I am also gonna use a TJ gas door instead of the stock xj door so they will just make a (7" I think ) hole over the stock door location and i can get a TJ door used for next to nothing. Prolyl gonna paint them gloss black to go with all my accessories.

Ive narrowed my list quite a bit too since the old forum this is my current build goals.

              AJs fornt bumper
              Install WJ OTK steering
Buy and install custom 1/4 armor
Weld in Unibody stiffeners and weld in drop brackets.
              Belly pan?

              Done, for the major mods.

100 bucks for both sides? That's wicked cheap for quarter guards, wish I knew a shop round here who'd make em for me

Its a local steel and aluminum fab shop, not jeep related. I give them specs they will make it. Prolly gonna do 3/16th. Price is still up in the air though.

Update: Acquired brandy new Ford Exp Sport trac front rotors for WJ conversion and ordered the lower ball joints, those will be in monday. Then i just need 01 XJ hubs and to install this shit.

Also hoping to make my templates for my 1/4" armor this weekend too if weather permits.

                    2/7/09

Update redrilled the tre holes on the WJ knuckles to 11/16th, couldnt find a tapered reamer any where locally for under $100 so i need to find that still.

Also picked up a new black and decker 1/2" HD electric drill for $30 too.

Hokay, so who wants to buy jeep xj 2500 front end parts?????????

I looked in to the future through my time machine i borrowed from the Doc, and its just not in my budget of time and money to do this swap. Its gonna cot over $125 for good paint and prep and i just dont have the time to mock it all up and paint it and bla bla. I bought it as an impulse buy and have bene regretting it for a while but never said anything. So its up for sale. $220 plus shipping. I think it will sell quickly on naxja cause people are still trying to mooch off others that have bought the parts already.

I am still gonna have AJs make me a custom bumper but not quite as elaborate as what i was gonna have.

I am also doing this because god forbid an accident happened it will be a bitch to get new parts.

I am going to buy Alex Ps Mj from him for a DD and that is also part of the reason for this cause thats a bit more important than a pretty nose for my jeep.

So i will continue with my WJ steering, rear 1/4 guards and plating the unibody and scrap the 2500 front end. Hopefully that will make things a bit easier for me.

I hope to have the MJ before the end of april/may. Dunno when i can pick it up.

Picking up ball joints this week and getting hubs next week. Geese this is turning in to a Sharpie build or a year long D 44 install like i did.

Once i grab these parts i just need a local person to help me weld everything in. Cant really afford to drive down to RI or CT to do it.

Then on top of all this i am buying that MJ from Alex P, and i am going to do some things to that and that will be my new DD. Already 1/3rd paid to alex for it so as soon as i get it all paid in full i will make a trip down to pick it up.

My plans for the Mj include: (over the next year or so) Gotta keep it cheap

Install 98 header panel (already have one)
98 front bumper and corner caps with matching front flares (have)
Remove all the stupid V8 and Z71 sitckers and rubber body molding.
Paint front and rear flares black
                            New Front shocks (already have)
                            New rear shocks, need still
Install 98 center console and bucket seats (already have)
                            98 mirrors (already have)
04 TJ coils (already have) (just to put some new low mileage coils in, i am not lifting it)
01 XJ trac bar (already have)
Stock Xj or tj wheels and 30s.
Install spring under 8.25 that comes with the jeep.
                            Tune up/general maint.

                            Drive it.

Way in the future, Full resto, 4x conversion and update to an '01 status.
