      I've been told on numerous occasions that the help at Hoffmans is Laughable.

      I'd also pass on the Sig556, but that's just me. I am not a fan of the stock sights they have on them.

      Dana, if you happen to come across any older Marlin leverguns, let me know, I'm in the Market, that or an octagonal barrel 1894 in 357.

          more or less they just overwhelmed on the weekend. you cant park in the parking lot on some days. they had 5 guys behind the counter at least and all of them where calling in paperwork or helping people with guns. i like them there, christ i've bought 4 guns from them but i just didn't have any patience for crowds and waiting this weekend.

          And Phil if i remember correctly you are still coming over to go shooting one of these days, we'll have to make a trip to Newington gun exchange. they have lots of old lever guns there.

          on the weekends we usually make this trip :
          Cabela's -> newington gun exhange -> hoffmans -> hooters

          all are within 15 min from each other.

                  Yup, when the cold subsides a bit, I'm going to give you a heads up. I'm dying for a good range session.

                  • Well, here is a text update for some other things.

                    I actually just secured a deal with someone in South Dakota for a 1920s (? - still need to run serial number) vintage Marlin 1893 in 25-36 that I am going to fully restore. I've been wanting to do this for years now and now I've finally got the chance. I'm going to re stock it entirely, rust blue the metal, hot blue the small parts and case color the receiver and other parts. I also want to get the bore relined and have it rechambered back to 25-35 Winchester, it will be something different and a show piece. Even if I only ever put one box of ammunition through it, I plan on using it as a 'This is what I can do' type gun.

                    With the ARs, I now have 4 receivers, one of which being Preban. What I will end up doing is simply throwing that Carbine Upper I have onto that Preban lower and get a Magpul Telestock and have it fully functioning. I'll keep the Dissipator, but what I am going to do with the other 2 lowers, I don't know. I'll suspend those project indefinitely or until the funds come 'round again.

                      The second item down. I've also been to the Newington Gun Exchange, and am often tempted by all of the awesome that store holds.

                      • AHA! An update! Huzzah!

                        The funds are finally here and I can finally pay attention to my firearm builds.

                        I decided to do some closet cleaning the other day and noticed my Box of Spare AR15s parts, which is filled to the brim and breaking the cardbox box, needed some dusting so I removed all the contents and realize that all I needed was a Barrel and a Front sight and I could have a Badass AR15...completing my Third one.

                        The Top (Carbine) is my PWA preban with a collapsible stock, the middle one will turn into the Rifle, 20" barrel, rifle length sights and eventually a Really nice piece of glass when I can afford it. The bottom is my Dissipator which will remain unchanged forever because I love it.

                        Anyway, I ordered a 20" Bravo Company Government Contour Barrel and it is ready to be installed as soon as the Yankee Hill front sight comes in. I have a Cavalry Arms Compensator that will be pinned on it for CT legality and I'm going to just use some standard AR forgrips for now or until I break down an get the Daniel's Defense ones.

                        After this AR is finished, I'm going to spend some time on some Marlin Projects, mainly the M1893.

                        EDIT: I just went through this entire thread just to look at the pictures and it is absolutely hilarious how much my ARs have changed over the past year. A true testimate to how unhappy I am with any AR I build. I do have to say though, my two complete ones are Awesome and I don't plan on changing them. They have become exactly what I wanted.
