MidLength and Rifle should be done within the next few days. Still waiting on the barrel for the Midlength.

Phil, this thread makes me want to become a full member of this club 300 times more. I'm proud to even have heard of you on the Internet. I turned 18 just three weeks ago, and I'll be buying my first firearm soon. It sucks I have to either wait two weeks or take a class to get my hunting license. I plan to get the license but it's so inconvinient with college starting soon.

phil, curious, how cheap could I get an AR-15 for, either fully complete, or all the parts and put it together myself, and how hard is it to build? I can field strip one in that matters any,

If you can build a jeep, you can assemble an AR15 from a pile of parts with just a little patience.

You will need some specific tools beyond a hammer and a good set of punches, but I have them all, so if you get all your stuff in CT, you can take a ride down here and we can have it assembled in under 2 hours.

I ALWAYS recommend building your own because you pick a set up you want, buy those specific parts and build your own gun to your liking. I wanted something no company offered from the factory, especially with the folding front sight, the aftermarket stock etc. If you just want something a factory offers, then buy that, but building it yourself will be no more expensive and you can say that you build it.

Cost really depends on the parts you buy. That carbine I just built I spent $1100 without the EOtech Holosight. The most expensive thing on there that could have been avoided easily and saved me the most money was the stock. It is a $180 stock, which is damn expensive but the one I wanted, and on top of that the Barrel which is $200 and the Bolt Carrier group which is $200 as well.

You can buy one off the shelf for just a little cheaper, but most AR15s start at $1000 and you get bare bones. It is really up to you.

What is more inconvenient, losing a weekend to a saturday sunday class and walking away with any longarm, rifle or shotgun, the day you buy it, or having to wait 2 weeks for a cooldown period, which if you forget about, you have to refill out the 4473 and wait an another 2 weeks.

Finished up the Colt Rifle earlier today.

Swapped out the carry handle upper for a Yankee Hill Flat top, took the forend rail from the RRA and put it on this.

The MidLength is still missing a part, so I'll post that up when I get it.

No, don't get me wrong I'd love to take the course I'm just trying to find a place to take the course, the ones I find online are all far away or full. My dad knows someone that does these courses and he's trying to get me in on one so I can get this collection started.
