with a little help from Jon and Phil we converted my Hella 4000s to HID, very simple job I must say. The kit is again from Black Knight Lighting (same as the LED stuff)
It is set up to be plug and play with the ballast system.
Have to disassemble the housing
Drill the hole for the wires and grommet to mount to/pass through
mount the bulb on the reflector housing behind the lens
hook up the ballast and mount it somewhere on the jeep
enjoy much increased light output
think thats about it for lights going forwards, next focus is getting the susp. joints replaced/tightened up, and then a few other odds and ends before the season gets underway full swing with work/fun
thats pretty cool. i kinda want to do the hids on my factory headlights but im not sure. i also have a bunch of other stuff to focus on before i get hid upgrades. hint:get ready for oer4 looks bright as hell tho willy

im not sure how well HID would work inside a stock housing..the HID is def super easy though, do it up!
edit: i cant remember the damn battery now. the one from sears. die hard gold i think? fuckin A.
the LEDs have very low draw, and the HIDs are 35w
at the end of the day there really isnt a lot of draw going on, which is another cool benefit of the current setup vs. my old one (way high draw all high watt halogen)
Does the kit you used work with H3 style bulbs, or did it replace the bulb in your Hellas entirely?
well FWIW the bulb in the 4000s is an H1, you need to get a kit that corresponds with whichever style you have. The bulb from the hellas is completely gone, its replaced with an H1 HID bulb
