Not that i will ever really need them but i am getting the hookup on some stock Steel skid plates from a friend at the dealership to replace the less then useful plastic skids that come stock w/o the offroad/upcountry package.

Trust me i want to but i cant. I have other important obligations and better ways to spend $300 to $2500 bucks right now. By spring i hope to be getting a mortgage and buying a house with my Fiance so lifting will have to wait until its paid off.

For now i want to make it the most capable stock setup i can w/o dumping lots of money. I cant even do the tires until my current ones wear out so that may not even happen until next spring. I still have some life in my stock tires. I just wont put pussy street tires back on it.

Besides if i was going to build it up it would be more like a JeepSpeed jeep modeled after this one. I wouls want to go fast over bumps more then make it a crawler.

This suspension in this jeep and similar jeeps is minimal lift, about 2" to 3" lift max, and 31 inch tires to maybe 32" tires. The suspension is Coilover on all 4 corners. This kit is all Fabtech but there is a kit modeled after it using a Radflo Coilover kit. The base kit is $1300 and the high end comp kit is $3300.

I had a deal on a sick custom light bar for the front bumper for $75 that would fit 3 hella Rally 4000's but i did not have the cash in hand before the next guy and i missed out on it.

its sounds effing sick. my dad is going to same kinda way with his WK.. he's getting a SRT8 rear sway, bilsteins, intake and exhaust. and if SRT8 20s weren't so damn expensive those. he originally wanted to lift a bit, but he'd never wheel it so why not make it more fun to drive on road?

Tell your dad 2 things. Buy both SRT8 sway bars, www.justforjeeps.com, You DO NOT need the rear sway bar links that add like $250 to the cost of teh rear sway bar. If he wants a more plush ride tell him to get the SRT8 Bilstein shocks and struts. They will fit fine, no ride height change but it will handle the streets much better.

Ok, So i am gonna start saving for tires. The problem is the Cost. I really want to do the Cooper STTs. The problem is that the cost of the 245/70/17 is $216 at the cheapest i can find. That is more then i paid for my 315/75/16 STTs i had on my XJ. I cant justify spending that much on tires i dont technically need.

So my other ideas are this. I can get BFG AT's but the only size i can get is a 265/70/17. That is a 31" tire, it will fit, ive seen it on stock with my wheels. it looks ok, kinda looks stuffed. And they will rub at full lock as well as screw up the speedometer. Those are $161 each.

I am also looking at Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ radial plus. Its nothing super duper, its just an all terrain tire. I can get those in the size i need 245/70/17 for the same cost as the BFG AT.
                                http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/t...aATZRadialPlus

Dont suggest other tires to look at. I have looked at dozens of tires. These are the 3 i have narrowed it down to and that i want to choose from.

                                So

                                Oversized BFG AT

Right on Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ radial plus

                                or

Wicked cool but way overpriced Cooper Discoverer STT?
