You DO NOT have to weld the upper shock bolts in. Take a punch and hammer and hit the broken bolt up and out, drop in bolt with washer and either tack weld it in or stick you hand in there with a wrench and your done. (thats how ive fixed 4 jeeps with broken upper shock bolts) welding on upper studs of some kind will99% of the time re break.

what we did was punched the old one out and then i dropped a bolt in from the top and tack welded it in place.
