had some time at work to work on my own vehicle (hardly ever happens) and did some work i've been putting off. First off the u-joint has been gone for like a year and progressively gotten worse. and the brakes have been low also and piston been getting stuck... pulled it all apart to find a chunk missing from the rf caliper piston, the rotors bad rot spots and pads nearly metal to metal.

decided I would just replace it all. New Rotors, New Calipers (well napa remans) and upgraded pads + replace the bad axle-ujoint while i had things apart. Overall went pretty smooth, typical hub rusted in but having $100,000 of shop tools available made all the work pretty easy

Not to many dis assembly pics but these ones sure look pretty, and yes, the entire undercarraige front to back is that clean

dont mind the pic of the caliper, pad wasnt sitting in the notch yet, had to tap it in (for those of you with keen eyes )

Also scored a deal on these huskyliner floor mats to keep winter slush/salt off the carpets. $40 for front and back + 3 stock replacement tail lights. Floormats retail $150 for all 4

nice thing is finding time to put brand new leafs in the sagged rear..

eventually my fiance is on board for lifting it also. our wedding is in october so after that we will have some money free'd up she miss's my TJ that was on 36's, we used to wheel every weekend. First though all mechanically issues and things will be addressed and then most likely a mild 3" lift / 32's nothing crazy with this one

brake lines in, replaced them with some NiCopp Nickel Copper Brake Lines so they should last another 12 years

now that the front brakes are done, lines are done, need to replace self adjuster in passenger rear drum and hopefully finally get my new rear leaf springs installed this year so hard to find time between kids, working 6 days and yardwork etc

slowly getting it all replaced and ready for another winter though!

on a side note - anyone have any reccomendations on a low profile cb antenna and CB ?

drove it to work on friday and went to leave and starter completly shit the bed, not even a click. check the connections and made sure everything was getting power and determined starter was bad. Luckly it was still under the napa 3 yr warranty (only been 2yrs) and they drove one out and 20 minutes later it was running like a champ again.

falling behind on the projects i wanted to do before winter though. I think a new set of tires is in the future for winter, aiming for some General Grabber AT2, always loved them and they are running a $70 Back promotion right now to sweeten the deal.

been working 7 days a week for the past few months so not to much progress, picked up a hidden hitch with plug and play wiring from craiglist for $55 though and with it slow at work got a chance to install it. stock nutstrip and the carriage bolt setup that was on the other side had seen better days, threads were so rusted they were almost none existent. Bought Some JCR nutstrips and put them in so my hitch would bolt up with ease. replaced all factory bolts with brand new bolts while i was on there as well.

                              few pics.
                              old vs new

all primed and painted (extra silver rim paint i had)

cleaned up the rust and painted it same color as jeep

back together, love how most of it is hidden
