    note this engine ran with no oil and no oil pressure for about 5 mins a couple months ago and has been runnin down the highway for last few weeks back and forth to work (75 miles) at 2800 and 3600 on hills. Just lately is when the oil blow by started getting bad enough where my air box was so filled with oil I'd leave a puddle every time I parked it!

      oh man. im at about 220000 and shes runnin strong. she leaks a little oil, i think im coming close to having to change out the oil pan itself. its real corroded. the p/o bought it off a guy who let it sit in a parking lot near the beach for years so this thing has been nothing but a rust bucket. i figured your mj would have more miles with the problems but hearing about what happened maybe not goddamn heaps the way your build is looking tho just fucking swap it man itll only be a couple hundred out of pocket including beers for help. not like youre not into it already with all the progress but whatcha gonna do?

      • I know you proably dont wanna hear this but, swap in another 4.0L before the comp just to get it done. Dont rush the V8 engine swap.
        2000 XJ with goodies soon to be in pieces
        1999 XJ will get most of the 2000XJ doodads.

          Ya I kno, I'm really not even sure if it's worth the trouble for a v8 swap in the long run. I really need to keep fuel injection and my biggest concern is the amount of room I have between for exhaust manifold on the passenger side with my upper control arm.

          Almost considering the best route is to get another 4.0 and go through and freshen it up.

                    • honestly for now you should just pick up a newer 4.0 and drop it on for now. you can pull it and swap another in within a few hours.

                      • Well it's been a long and bumpy path this jeep has traveled since I first got it and its time to move onto something new. With all my wiring issues, motor on the way out, and scarred and beaten uniframe along with less than ideal wheelbase for competition I decided to change gears so to say. Axles are already pending sale and andys takin the tarz and rims. The little bit of cage that is done is already sold as well. The rest of the jeep is being stripped of its remains and getting cremated. Some of my lift parts are going towards my next build. Both jeeps reside in andys garage for the swap-over and the tear down of the retired manch has begun!

                        I picked up a 2001 cherokee today for 400 beanhams and it runs and moves! It was an accident victim but easily fixable. I'm looking for a fresh start here and want to go back to a smaller/more driveable setup. I'm planning to build stockish axles and run a 35 inch tire. I am still competing april 10th. I am still running this seasons comp in class 2 so don't worry. I have 4 weeks and a few good friends willing to help out.
