I joined because I saw this discussion over o2 sensors. I recently replaced the one after the cat. You need to reset the system after replacing o2 sensors. Just disconnect the battery terminals and hold them together for about 30 seconds or a minute. There should be a 10mm bolt holding some small wire coming off the negative terminal to the passenger side of the engine bay. Could have been something to do with my foglights, but I believe every xj has that wire there. You can get at it with a wrench, or just take the battery out the rest of the way and get it off with a socket. Mine was on relatively tight. After you held the terminals together for 30-60 seconds, reconnect the positive. Put the key to "on" then flip the headlights on then off. Turn the key off. You should be able to start it and not have the CEL anymore. That's what did it for me at least when it came to my o2 sensor issue. The other code you're getting may keep it on though, who knows but at least it's one less code to worry about.

You forgot to add that you also need to do this while standing on you head and giving Al Gore a lap dance

Jon, I'm not going to New Haven... poor wording. I meant I need to rob a guido that's on their way. Fuckers always have money.

Casper, are you talking about the master ground from the battery to the body?

I believe that's what that wire is. From the negative terminal to the body. It was relatively small, like a twelve gauge wire or so IIRC.

Ya I only had to pull that wire because it kept the negative from reaching the positive.

I have a nice list I've been picking away at for 3 years

                        1. get other 7 speakers wired up
                        2. new key cylinders for doors
                        3. replace entire floor (anyone a good welder?)
                        4. replace hard fuel line
                        5. Regear axles
                        6. Swap axles
                        7. O-rings and recharge AC
                        8. Win the lottery
                        9. center console swap
                        10. replace rotted out rear bumpstops

unfortunatly the list is quite a bit longer, although I did replace my exhaust last night

I gotta adjust my front links before we go. Stupid links! Long story. And i may move my rear shocks to the front bc my fronts are completely blown out and bent. What you think front more important?

I got almost everything done, not that i had that much on my list. I had to trim my lower rear quarters which got done about 20 mins ago, get a functional cb setup which got done last week, fix my death wobble which was cause it got toed in 2 inches some how, and gear the axles. Was gonna have them done saturday afternoon, but then was told that i need a new carrier which still hasn't fucking shipped. So while everyone is in rausch, my jeep will be on jackstands in my driveway.

                                Don't we all.

I don't know if NY is the same Steve but in CT you really can't cheat the system anymore. There are all sorts of cameras and when the car is plugged in the mechanic cross references the VIN before getting started. If they're caught cheating the state will take away their license for emissions which is easy income for shops.

Will, I still say try to space the 02 sensors with washers and try to cheat the system. I don't even know what the second code is
