  • Country Music

let it be known, i am a complete newb to country music, and i never really liked it before specifically...but over the last year or so i have dabbled listening to kenny chesney a bit..at least one of his albums

whats everyones opinion on country music here? just curious...and is chesney true country or just mainstream pop country?

i normally like alt. punk, alt. rock, rock, so on...but i think music genre barriers are stupid, and its more about what it just sounds like to you, but just curious what the general consensus is here

one of my friends from new paltz is a huge country fan...so she always has me listening to the stuff she likes. some of it is really good, but i don't really go out on my own and download it...she usually just gives me it

growing up my mom was a big garth brooks fan, so i know most of his music too...and now lady antebellum is getting really big on pop stations but is definitely more country...i like them as well

if its country on the radio it sucks imo.

but nashville changed the way i view country music. wish i remembered the bands we saw, but they all could shred, it was like hard rock with country vocals

I am a huge country fan. there is pop country(like rascal flatts, keith urban, carrie underwood, taylor swift, lady antebellum etc.) and than there is what i call country which is like geroge strait, alan jackson, brooks and dunn, etc. Most country today i think would be considered pop country. Kenny chesney I would say got really popular when the pop country stuff started but I think he is definately country. There are def some new people out there that are more country (easton corbin, chris young) but its all a mix. Country music today isnt all hank williams and johnny cash

definitely wouldn't consider myself a country fan but i don't hate all of it... grew up listening to a lot of it with my cousins. i like pop country like rascal flatts and kenny chesney but i've definitely heard some good authentic country music.

I love old country (i.e hank williams, willie nelson, johnny cash) and stuff that sounds like it. I am a Josh Turner fan... he is old style country IMO.

It definitely has it's bad songs and good songs, just like any other genre.
I cannot stand the slow slow country songs and the ones that sing about god.

I used to listen to country all the time, but my college roommates were into punk and got me into it.

I primarily listen to punk now but when I want to listen to something different I switch back to country.

I cannot stand rap or any dance tunes, especially once they use the nagger word I immediately switch the station.
Which sucks because I have sirius and the only punk station is Faction which is a mix of everything.

Anyone else use Jango.com for music?
I used to us pandora but they limit you to 40hr per month which is only a week at my desk plus pandora you need to hit the reset button every hour jango plays for ever.
