I met him.
The last 2 days I was working a trade show type deal for work. It was a week long conference for chiefs who had gone through the FBI academy and they were there for some training and talks. My friend Chelsey and I were 2 of 5 females at the whole thing and we were the youngest ones, and the only ones not there on the arm of an intimidating officer.
After conferencing all day it was drinking and entertainment at night. Some guy from last comic standing, free drinks etc kinda deal. All the officers there were of course picking on Chelsey and I taking advantage of our gullibleness all night telling us stories just paling around really.
This man is walking aroung with a medal around his neck. I didnt look closely at it or anything but just kinda went ok i guess its something I dont know because Im not an officer.
One of the guys messing around with us tells me this man is the real Forrest Gump. Now this man seems nothing like the character Forrest Gump. AT ALL. So Chelsey and I are just laughing going no nono no hes not ha ha funny. The man then proceeds to say yeah...the superimposed Tom Hanks' face on my body. Yeah right.....so were laughing and then he says yup yup look it up my name is Sammy Davis. So I then ask if hes a Junior....
A retired Lt. in the NJ State Troopers who works with us pulled us aside and tells us hes the real deal.

Sammy Davis. A man who did a lot for our country and won the congressional medal of honor. I was fortunate enough to meet this man. And I didnt beleive him.
I ALWAYS shake the hands of men and women in uniform and thank them. I feel awful and tried many times to apologize and shake his hand. Hes incredibly laid back and a real sweet guy and didnt seem offended at all when we were saying no wayyyy.
Though I didnt beleive him, it was an absolute honor just to be in his presence. Now im probably going to beleive anything anyone tells me just so im not in a position like that anymore. UGH. Gonna beat myself up for a long time for this one
