if you want the cons, i can give you a pretty huge list of stuff that sucks, but an even bigger list of things that are even better.

I work on fighter jets. Yes , ive been overseas once in three years, but its becoming a yearly thing, home for a year, go for 4 months, home for a year, home for 4 months.... should be going overseas again at the end of the year.... and no I havent been to the middle east, I went to Okinawa and will probably be going to guam this time around.

its hard to get a grasp on things with out actually doing it. i have been thinking about joining for the last year, kicked around the idea. talked to a recruiter once but i think they just try to sell you anyway. my best friend has been in for a year. he a 2nd lt in the USMC and just went over seas. i want to join, i think i would be the best thing for my future but im just not sure if i can handle the life style cuz im use to doing what i want when i want.

                    USAF, best decision.

quality of life FTW. marines get stuck with a roommate until they are in for 3 years, AF only has roommates during training. some deployments will get you put up in a high class hotel and primo food. its happened. do any other branches get those? maybe the navy does, but theyre gay

not much not to like, youre getting full med, food, and housing and with most specialties, weekends off. i will spend $0 in the next 2 weeks while i save for my fiances trip at the end of the month. imagine if i could spend that on my bike

deployments for many are also mostly voluntary. those that do come down for tasking get taken within the hour as there are lots of people who want the benefits. even if you do get tasked personally and absolutely dont want to go, you can probably find a way to hand it off to someone else. dont tell my fiance, but id LOVE to get deployed. then shed have to marry me sooner

if you can get into it nowadays, TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY!!! most recruiters are shut down for a WHILE due to high demand for jobs and not enough slots. even if you take a job you dont like initially, you can switch in 3 years. like me

EDIT: only thing that keeps me from doing what i want when i want: money an vacation days. its there for me to use, but i need to save for a wedding, otherwise you can bet id be camping somewhere crazy every single weekend.
                    winng. all the goddamned time.

do you have a college degree? What would you want to do? how old are you..

as far as doing whatever the hell you want all the time and having to change once your in.....

they ask that you dont do drugs, dont break the law, pay your bills on time... other than that , the military isnt a whole lot different than any other job.

Well I was enlisted. U.S.A.F. Joined Jan. 1981 and seperated Sept. 1992 after the first Gulf. Seperated as Tsgt with a line for Msgt but didn't care because I was drained after that.

43171 which became 45272 Aircraft Maintenace Specialist. Spent 8 years working F-111's and 4 years on the F-16.

Short of playing in the sandbox it was an awesome experience.

Contrary to popular belief, "the easy life" in the air force sometimes isnt so easy. Getting billions and billions of dollars worth of badass killing machines ( f-22s) ready to go to war is no easy task...
