What kind of benefits do you get? Only thing I've ever seen for students is a free checking account and I think free checks. I've switched banks a few times (its easy when you have no money) and most of them offered it to me. I use a local bank right now and probably won't switch. They are close to home, and when I need help with something, I go down to a local branch and talk to someone who is (at least they seem) very willing to help.

yup, thats about it. i have two free checking accounts and a savings with them. the one in new paltz is pretty good as far as banks go, i'm pleased with them. the one in huntington however is a fucking trash heap, i call it 'bank of el salvador.'

i got BOA so my dad could keep tabs on my account, add money from loans for rent/food whatever easily since he has a BOA account as well. he has HSBC too which rocks.

I have USAA ( military and veterans bank ) and they are fucking kick ass....

I also had about 300 dollars stolen out of credit card couple months ago and wasnt responsible for any of it.

Was getting stolen from Norway and UK and Belgium....

Yup i have BOA becuase it was the only bank on my campus and not having a car made it hard to get to any other banks... I should be switching banks soon...

I've never had a problem with BOA and like having a bank that has branches wherever I go. I also have HSBC which I have no problems with for the most part except for a few things. One being they do this stupid phone access code shit and I can't seem to make my own code and they just auto renewed my cd for an interest rate at 1/3 my savings account

i'll start pumping my debit card through as credit, i dont get charged extra. this way i dont have to use the PIN.

was going to say this.
a plethora of cards used at one place all had to get replaced because of a security violation. Both my mother's and my own, included. No money loss, thank god, just the hassle of a new card. No big deal, but from then on, always use debit as credit where you can.

This... All the Westfield Malls are BOAs. Even when I'm in Florida there are BOAs everywhere. I hate ATM fees because there is usually a fee from the ATM and your bank... You can take out $20 and end up with 2 $2 ATM fees.
I've never had a problem with BOA... I opened it up as a Fleet bank account in college for free checking. I'm pretty sure the account still says student checking... I opened it up about 7 1/2 years ago. I opened the account because I wanted an account that my parents did NOT have any access to. I had a Peoples account, but closed it and moved everything into BOA once I graduated college, which was 5 years ago.
Never have had anyone access my accounts. When swiping my BOA card for gas... it just asks for my zip code and not pin number.

perfect reason to use cash or use a credit card with a liimit of say $500. you can always pay it off throughout the month (best way to do it anyways for less interest charge)
