when was the last time you donated to your own country? or donated to help the good people who lost thier jobs and need help getting back on thier feet, and are losing thier homes?
people have no problem donating to a third world country but most wouldn't even think of helping thier neighbors in need
As far as helping people that are less fortunate. When I was in the Marines I would spend a lot of my time planning and coordinating for Toys for Tots and Katie and I still donate to Toys for Tots trough my best friend that is still in the Marines.
If you are not familiar Toys for Tots it gives kids where there parents cant afford to give them a christmas a chance to get some toys and goodies on Xmas morning. Like anything else the program is still corrupt because the way the government decides who gets to use the program is based off a debt to income ratio. So basically if you go out and finance a brand new BMW but really you cant afford it which puts you into massive debt you qualify. You could have a giants house/cars etc and still get toys for tots to support your children's christmas because you dont know how to manage your money. This does make me angry, but I still do it because its not the kids fault that there parents are complete fucking morons that should be punched in the face.
Moral of the story, or rebuttal to your question. Whens the last time you went out and actually did something for those people, physically helped them get back on there feet? Anybody can write a check to a donation. Do you know where it goes or if it actually does any good? probably doesnt. You better decide if you are hanging on the cross, or banging in the nails

Its not about the money, they could cut my pay by 80% and I would still be over here. I loved what I did in the Marines and I love what I do now.

all im sayin is hey if you can throw 10 bucks to help then do it. if you cant, then get a better job lol. however it helps....it helps. i mean sometimes i feel like half of you on here just want to argue for the sake of arguing. were any of you raised with morals? helping the less fortunate and people in need. i see someone said something about haiti giving us illegals and gangs....ok cool. thats like saying all black people are bad because one robbed you.....ignorance. the only valid point i saw here was from phil.....or neil?
"It doesn't even have to do anything with the fact that they don't care about us or they fact that they never feel sympathy for our natural disasters, it is the plain and simple fact that no matter how much money you dump into that place, it will continue to be a third world country until an earthquake kills the entire population. They severed their ties with their Superpower without any type of plan for form a solid country with goods to export other then Sugar cane. They have, and always will be a festering blister of fail in the Caribbean."Last edited by Mighty Quine; 01-21-2010, 09:00 AM.I once had a 93 XJ, 4.5" o' lift, 33" TSL Super Swampers, 8.25 rear Detroit locked. 2,000 Lb Steering. Haiti’s largest slum in the capital of Port-au-Prince, has been called "the most dangerous place on Earth" by the United Nations.
I'm a philanthropist through a through, but there are some things that still rest at unease with me. Here you have the most dangerous slum on earth being destroyed by a natural disaster. Others are calling it a True act of God, but I only I see it as mere coincidence. If this is what it takes to turn that country around, then so be it. Haiti doesn't even have a military, they have a civil police force made up of rebels and corrupt officers. Right now, Canada and the United States have deployed troops down there as well as organized food drops, but to what avail? Will the Hatians learn from this?
No. They will simply do as they have always done - Blame America for helping them out. They did it most recently and they will do it over and over. Countries like these constantly bite the hand that feeds them, and so, I won't donate. I won't be that person who carries their $10 donation on their chest like a blue ribbon of absolved responsibility to impress those around. I could easily give money, throw in $10, but it is against my morals to Help a people that beg for help and then get angry about you being a world superpower by 'invading' Haiti.
It's a all a crock of shit. Be a Humanitarian and Donate. Help Haiti as Country go nowhere.sigpic

im not wearing it like a ribbon...and i totally understand your stand on it. it just bothered me how people on here had nothing better to say but "fuck no, what have they dont for me" etc etc. weather it be just being uneducated or pure ignorance....idk, i grew up dirt poor and on food stamps so ive always felt the need to help the less fortunate because ive been there. i dont think anybody here know what thats like and thats why they could care lessI once had a 93 XJ, 4.5" o' lift, 33" TSL Super Swampers, 8.25 rear Detroit locked. 2,000 Lb Steering. I agree the tone of some people is a little uncensored or harsh, but grouping a bunch of people into having no morals and being clueless/ignorant/racist doesnt really drive any sort of point home for me except for forced guilt.- Will

I have to say that I agree with kai in the aspect of the reasons that some people are giving.
Im reading this and its sounding really bad what some people are saying.
If you have warrented personal reasons and you sound educated on the matter then thats respectable.
saying things that just soud judgemental and like he gave the example fuck no they never did anything for me, just sounds absolutely terrible. if i was just coming to sis and saw that i wouldnt want to stick around.
if people dont wanna donate thats totally their choice. if they have personal thoughts on Haiti thats their decision. But it just seems some people are coming off really bad in this thread :-(2009 silver JK - destination beachy jeepJ10 project do want."attack life. its just going to kill you anyway"

what goes through my head has already been discussed in this thread but i'll just repeat/put it into my own words. i am not racist, and my opinions and decisions to not donate have NOTHING to do with the race of the people living in Haiti.
our country is having enough financial problems right now, and somehow the american red cross is able to get 9 million dollars, coca-cola was able to donate 1 million, and people are texting to the red cross and giving 10 dollars which is being charged to their cell phone bill....i hate to sound selfish, but why are we caring so damn much about our image to other countries when WE need the help? giving our money away to countries that are acting out violently and from what i've seen making their conditions worse because of all the looting and gang problems isn't okay in my eyes.mrs. heavymetal from jeepforum

x3 on some things in the thread sounding off-color
maybe that means i'm not credible
and im going to play devils advocate here and touch on another point..
not everyone donates to feel better about themselves, or to brag about it to friends. i think thats a stretch. also not everyone can leave their family and jobs to go down a physically give a helping hand. maybe that $10 you donated will give someone clean drinking water for the week.. granted you might live in a shit-hole country but people dont chose to be born there, they are stuck with it. I'm not disagreeing with anyone here im just pointing out both sides of the argument. I apologize if i'm beating a dead horse here."when I'm riding my motorcycle,I'm glad to be alive...when I stop riding my motorcycle,I'm glad to be alive"
