    so next time it happens, i just plug it into my other monitor and see if the screen is just failing?

      just use it with the other monitor plugged in for a while. See if you can make the screen go black while you are using it and the external already connected. If the external goes black as well (and the connection didn't fall out of the port) then you have a big problem.

        it blacked out again, plugged into my other monitor and nothing, restarted my laptop with the monitor still plugged in and i was projected on the other monitor..... now what?

          when you plug the monitor in while the computer is on you have to hit a key sequence (forgot what it is. fn+ f5 or something) for it to switch to the monitor.

          if you dont know what you are doing, bring it to someone that does
