It's probably not AS intense, but Waimea Canyon in Hawaii made me a little timid. There is a platform that you stand on, and directly beyond the metal railing is a very short (about 45*, 6ft. long) angled drop, followed by a LOOOOOOONG basically vertical drop. I wondered how the fuck the mountain goats got the sack to walk along the rim.

It wasn't so freaky the first time, partially because I was real young and fearless, and it was a clear day. But the second time I went (I was about 13/14) it was so foggy, you couldn't see the edge of the angled drop. Something about not being able to see 6ft. in front of me, but KNOWING that there was an enormous canyon in front of me made me freak out a little bit.

I've got pictures somewhere, I'll see if I can find them.
