  • Its going to be like the real world...but not

From the January 2nd - February 24th I'm shipping out on the schools training ship. "Luckily", as a cadet officer and a senior, a few of us get cadet officer living spaces instead of living in a hold with 85 guys bunked 3 high. I thought I would post some pics of the ship and my room. The room is about the size of the kitchen from the last meet and greet with 9 of my buddies living in it including myself. It honestly is better then sleeping in a room 20' x 40' with 80 guys though.

Here's the ship (renamed the T.S. Kennedy last year). It was built in 1968 and re-fit as a troop transport. We set sail with a total of 650 people on board.

    Dry dock pics:

My room, and yes this is an improvement but it still sucks.

My bed is the second one down on the right. Bed Dimensions: 7'long, 2' wide, and 2' of head room.

Its only 550feet and carries 650 people feet long, my last ship was 918 feet and carried 18. The ship is honestly one giant piece of shit. Last time I went on it the generators tripped 5 times before we got to florida leaving the entire ship dead in the water. Usually, the boiler fire control shits the bed after a week so someone (freshmen) stands in front of each boiler and watches the make sure the flame doesn't go out for 4 hour rounds. I'll put up more pics when I get on and we start to fire her up.

My Freshmen year we were hitting 35-40 foot waves, burying the bow and having the propeller come out of the water. The ship was rolling so hard you could walk on the walls. The biggest roll we took was 41 degrees to port then back over 43 to starboard. beds flew off the wall, kids were flying out of the beds.....good time.

Its going to be a sausage fest

No worries, I'm not actually back, I'm just reminiscing about the old days.
