If you are eligible for the upgrade, you are getting a $400 discount off of retail, if eligible for an early upgrade, $200 off. This means you'll be buying the phones at $99 for the 3G 8gb, $199 for the 16gb 3Gs and $299 for the 32gb 3Gs. I have sold unlocked/jailbroken 3gs for over $300 and that was a good deal for the most part. Contract starts at $175 and declines from there for the phone so it works out to be the same kind of money as buying one no contract elsewhere.

This may make more sense in my head than what I typed since I deal with this stuff on a daily basis.
199 for the 16 gig 3gs? I'll redo my contract for that

yea the 16 gig 3gs is pretty sweet deal. you can also get the new Motorola Droid with Verizon service that seems sweet. although it came out only a few weeks ago so I would wait to get one for a bit to let them work out the kinks. The Droid does things a lot like the Iphone and has a App store and stuff like that. Not sure if it is as extensive as the Iphone

Yeah as long as you are eligible for the full upgrade. It really isn't a bad deal considering what you are getting in a device

shit, good for the early upgrade. Makes it 399. I'm goin to look at a 16 gig 3GS supposedly has the date made as March 28th 2009 in the info section of the thing. Anything I should look for when I go see it? I guess its unlocked or something so you can use it with other networks. Do you know if my SIM card will even boot the thing up? I have a samsung eternity with a 3G card and the full multimedia package. He wants 300 for it.

If I go check it out and it works fine I'll probably offer him something lower than 3 and take it.

          Appreciate the help.

my friend has the droid, it's pretty sweet. The one complaint he has is that it's kind of rough when it opens. The slidey part kinda binds.

My iPhone 3gS is jailbroken, and I could unlock it if I wanted too (but don't, I have AT&T) so I could probably answer any question you may have about it.

The only downsides to my phone after having it since June-
-battery lasts barely a day when using it
-have to be careful not to scratch such an expensive device

However I've dropped my phone many times (on the side of the highway while taking a piss break, for example) and it comes up fine every time. If you get a case you don't have to worry about anything. I love being able to get any app from the App store for free (jailbreaking allows this when you download an app). I use the GPS requently because when you want to go to Taco Bell late at night you just type in Taco Bell and it finds the nearest one quickly and starts directions toward it.

That has nothing to do with the phone itself.

And if your going to use a jailbroken iphone, read these.
