I love my ruger 10/22 carbine. All I had to do was clean my grandfathers gutters and he paid me with that. Someday I will clean his gutters again and get the 30 6.

as for the bow test you have to hit a deer in the vitals from 15 yards, 3 out of 5 shots. I hit all 5. pretty simple. it was hilarious watching the kid in front of me. they wouldnt let him shoot his own bow cause there was no c clip in one of the cams, so he had to shoot his dads bow. he hit the deer in the neck 5 times. you would think he would shoot a little more right. his dad was just sitting there making excuses. his dad was also one of the guys that made me stay there an hour extra because he wouldnt stop asking questions. I wanted to punch him. than everytime the instructor would ask a question, he would always blurt out the wrong answer and everyone would laugh at him.
Any of you guys do any longer range shooting? Say 400-1000 yards?
I do, but not here in CT. Ever since Blue Trail shut down their 200 yard range, I no longer do. Though I have been out to PA a few times and shot at 500 yards.

I gave up deer hunting a few years back and spent most my time since with the dogs and bird hunting. Killed two buck at long range in PA though - 400 and 665 yards. The gang at camp still hunts mountain to mountain in northcentral PA. Most locations are 400-800 yards.
i have a marlin bolt action 22, i dont have a scope on it, just the brass and god damn the thing is DEAD NUTS. i got it on my birthday when i was 11 from my father. i've put tens of thousands of rounds threw it. so cheep and fun to shoot. i also have a 10/22 when i feel like bucking off lots-o-shots (50 round clip). everyone i know that has a ar-15 ( a lot) uses it when they first get it then they put it away. my $0.02
