this is good relevant feedback.Originally posted by Burton58 View Posti'm more prone to throwing out or destroying paper cards as well. for example: i have an HMC card in my wallet and its so worn down from being in there i can hardly read it. though i have a plastic blockbuster card still in my wallet even though they went out of business locally and a borders card though i never ever go there. plus i think the frosted plastic looks cool. be different, do it- Will

Plastic ones def last longer, but are bulkier. Carrying around 10 in my wallet was like carrying around 10 extra credit cards. Plastic ones were def nicer, but I just prefered the original paper ones. Our plastic ones had some sort of SAR coating on one side with an extravagant logo on it & your info on the other side. Coating sounds pretty cool when you scratch your fingers against it.Originally posted by HeavyMetal View Postinterested to know reason

Plastic all the way, a lot of reasons covered by Doug.
I go through my wallet about once a month and almost all paper cards get thrown away unless its something really important due to fading/ripped/wrinkled etc etc.
I have all the plastic cards I have ever recieved due to the fact that they stand up to time and almost all of them are the coolest cards I have ever seen.
I dont really like the picture of the one you posted though with all that said. You better decide if you are hanging on the cross, or banging in the nails

Curious on pricing diff... plastic does pretty much last forever. I'd expect it to be significantly more $ than paper.

Heres something else to consider.
Im just using these numbers to make it easy.
Say you buy 100 cards, at a dollar a piece.
You have a tent set up at an event, and you give out 100 cards. There will be people like me, who have no interest in buying or purchasing a service through you, but hey, ill just grab a card , jam it in my pocket and maybe check out your website later on. So 90 "mikes" grab a business card, jam it in their pocket. lets say 45 of these mikes check out your website, and of those 45, maybe 1 or 2 are swayed to buy or purchase something from you.
The 10 other people were some rock crawling team or some company wanting some sort of media thing done up for em. Of the 10 who grab card, we will say half of them go on to purchase something from you. So of the 100 people that took cards, 7 ended up buying something. Of 100 cards, 7 went towards making you profit, but you bought 100 cards at 1 dollar a peice, those 7 cards real cost is something like 14 bucks a peice.
This is a hypothetical situation with unrealistic numbers and stats, but just another way to look at it. Is buying the plastic cards in the end gonna be worth it? What are the real costs of these things, would you rather just buy 5-10x more paper cards and have more in circulation and keep costs down?

perhaps i have a small stock of plastic cards, and i hand those to potential/inquiring clients, and keep the paper stock cards out at events on my table/whatever for people to snag, and have a plastic one on display near them.- Will

Those 90 mikes might one day in the future run into someobody that requires Wills services as well and because they have a card that stood up to the test of time, they can say HEY i have this sweet card I got, try this dude out?You better decide if you are hanging on the cross, or banging in the nails

You can do a lot of other cool stuff with plastic cards too, like layering.Originally posted by BOX View PostThe plastic we use for our cards is called lenticular. shits beef. The company logo under the coating is also 3D.
